GREENHEAD HIGH SCHOOL
The GreenheadHigh School is situated in the city of Keighley in West Yorkshire on Greenhead road. It is a multi-cultural high school which has mathematics and computing as its specialties. It has a large student populace of over 800 pupils and the staff numbers over 100, both teaching and non-teaching as well as pat-time and full-time.The high school has a wide array of traditional as well as modern classrooms, and a large sports area, with an every-weather athletics field also. Another unique feature of the GreenheadHigh School is the special City Learning Centre or the CLC.
The GreenheadHigh school had their most recent OFSTED inspection in November 2003, when they were applauded for their tremendous job in the teaching and learning fields. The special mention was of the CLC unit, which helps children with special education requirements. In September of 2006, the GreenheadHigh school was given the Specialist Status award, for their mathematics and computing fields. The high school conducts regular events after this status was declared.
Another unique achievement of the GreenheadHigh school is that 4 of its girls from classes nine and ten were given invites to the most famous I.Q. society all over the world, the MENSA. The girls were previously given the recognition and had been put into special programme’s called the Gifted and Talented program or Challenge. This gives us an insight into how well the high school is working towards providing every opportunity to its students.
Greenhead High school has diverse subjects from which the students can choose, like: Business and Enterprise (Business studies, economics, media etc), Foundation (in year 7), English (Literacy), Foreign Languages (French, Spanish and Urdu), Mathematics and ICT, Performance Studies (Drama, Dance, Music), Social Sciences (Citizenship, geography, history, law etc), Special Educational Needs or SEN (SEN and EMA), and Cross Curricular (Challenge, No Limits and Girls Allowed).
